Baptist Health seeks an attorney to join its legal department as Assistant General Counsel.

Baptist Health is a faith-based, nonprofit, integrated healthcare system that operates eight hospitals and provides high-quality, advanced medical care, primary care, rehabilitation, and numerous supportive services in the State of Arkansas.

Assistant General Counsel will perform and manage legal projects within a system presenting a variety of legal issues and matters including: patient care issues; end of life issues; physician-hospital agreements; mergers and acquisitions; joint ventures; independent contractor agreements; general employment agreements; purchase contracts; managed care contracts; research; and compliance issues. This position reports to the General Counsel of the system.

Job Requirements

Education, training, experience:
Applicants must have a law degree from an accredited law school and be licensed to practice law either in the State of Arkansas or another state. If not licensed in Arkansas, Applicants must have the willingness and eligibility to become licensed in Arkansas promptly.

Applicants should have at least seven (7) years of experience in the practice of law and legal experience in the following areas is preferred:
• Transactions, including preparation of transaction documents and due diligence;
• Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating commercial and health care related agreements with vendors and other entities;
• Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating personal services and employment agreements;
• Knowledge and ability in general health law and health care regulation and compliance, including Medicare, Medicaid, the federal Anti-kickback Statute, False Claims Act, Stark law and HIPAA; and
• Real estate law.
